Zytut German Shepherds - Welcome

About our Breeding program at Zytut Kennel

We have been breeding German Shepherds for the past 25 years on a very limited basis. We would love to be able to breed more, but we stay very busy showing dogs for our clients. Our breeding program has taken a back seat. So when we do breed we select the best quality breed animals and strive to enhance the generation of tomorrow. We strive to breed German Shepherds that represent the standard set forth by the German Shepherd Dog Club of America.; Health is our top priority. We obtain preliminary x-rays or OFA all dogs before breeding. Every breeding here is for a reason and sometimes many years of thought will go into a litter. We believe temperament is also very important and we do many things with our litters to instill only the best minds. We believe that puppies learn from an early age so we teach our puppies to sit, down and come by the time they are 6 weeks old. Each puppy is then crate-trained by 8 weeks. Our puppies are taught that they can have one-on-one or group play. We believe that the puppies should be exposed to many different dogs, situations and environments. Everything we do is to enhance the outcome in their lives.

Structure is why we breed the dogs we breed. We want our dogs to be functional in whatever they do. Whether it’s a dog living in a family home or a dog that is working sheep or jumping in agility. We want our dogs to be able to do their job all day and not get tired because they can’t physically function. We strive for natural slope and moderate angle. We love good front reach and a powerful rear drive. It is so exciting when you see a dog move around the back yard or show ring, covering ground in an effortlessly floating gait. It is a wonderful feeling and a beautiful sight.

Each litter we breed here at Zytut is for a better dog of tomorrow. German shepherd dogs we can be proud of and cherish.

Every puppy bred here is evaluated to determine if they are most suitable as a family companion or a show dog (though even the best show dog is usually a great family companion as well). We let our family companion puppies go to their new homes around 10-12 weeks. Our family companions are placed on a limited registration with an agreement that money will be refunded upon proof of having the puppy spayed/neutered. We also offer money back for any puppy/adult who completes a full 8-week course of obedience.

Our show puppies are placed in foster homes to develop their minds while their bodies mature until a proper show home is selected.
